Event Staff Positions in Birmingham B2 – Immediate Start & Flexible Opportunities
Job Description: Event Staff Role
As the leading event staffing agency in the West Midlands, Staff Direct is recruiting for multiple high-profile clients in the Birmingham B2 area, including venues like the International Convention Centre (ICC), Utilita Arena Birmingham, and major conference hotels. The role of Event Staff is crucial for ensuring the smooth and professional execution of corporate events, public exhibitions, private galas, and trade shows. Our clients rely on us to provide personable, efficient, and reliable staff who can represent their brand and enhance the attendee experience. This is more than just a temporary job; it’s a chance to build your CV with recognisable events, develop customer service skills, and work within a supportive agency framework known for its fair treatment and prompt weekly payments.
Successful candidates will be part of a dynamic on-site team, managed by Staff Direct but working directly for our esteemed client partners. We specialise in connecting motivated individuals with immediate start opportunities that offer genuine flexibility. Whether you are looking for full-time hours across several events or prefer part-time, ad-hoc shifts, registering with us opens a gateway to the vibrant Birmingham events scene. For those seeking a more permanent career path, many of our temporary placements have led to long-term roles with clients or within the hospitality sector, making this an excellent stepping stone. We also actively recruit for other flexible roles such as Personal Assistant (PA) positions and Data Entry Clerk jobs, offering a diverse portfolio of work for our registered candidates.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Guest Registration & Welcome: Professionally greet and register event attendees, manage guest lists, issue badges, and provide clear directions and event information.
- Crowd Management & Stewarding: Ensure the safe and orderly flow of guests throughout the venue, managing queues, directing foot traffic, and assisting with seating arrangements for conferences or ceremonies.
- Logistical Support: Assist with the set-up and breakdown of event spaces, including moving furniture, placing signage, preparing registration desks, and basic AV equipment handling under supervision.
- Information & Customer Service: Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for attendees, answering queries about the event schedule, venue facilities, local amenities, and providing a high standard of customer care.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all venue and client health & safety protocols, report any issues promptly, and assist in implementing emergency procedures if required.
What We're Looking For – Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within hospitality, events, retail, or as a Personal Assistant (PA). A positive, can-do attitude is paramount.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a professional presentation. Smart, all-black attire is typically required and will be specified for each assignment.
- Reliability and flexibility: Must be available for shifts that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and be able to travel to locations primarily in Birmingham B2 and surrounding areas.
- The right to work in the UK. While not always required for every event, some positions may involve basic Data Entry Clerk tasks for registration, so comfort with digital tablets and basic software is advantageous.
